Hi everyone, it’s Lou here.
Today I want to give you a little insight into our video shooting for our current single “Cyan Night Dreams”.
The idea
As this song is the title track of our upcoming record, we really wanted to have a complete CI concept for the album artwork, our official promo shots and the music video. So Benni spent like 100 years creating that cool cover and later turned it into this animated background, which can be seen in the sequences where the whole band is performing.
You can check out the full hypnotizing background animation with sound here. Unfortunately, some of the cool sequences didn't make it into the final video:

More InformationThe location
We really wanted this video to be in a big room, with the artwork colors and light tubes and all that stuff. The cool thing was that the film studio where we shot the “I Am” video had already built this room in their space, including a big screen wall with a floodable water tank on the ground.
After we heard this, I had the idea of combining those two videos: after Kai’s breakout from the small room in the “I Am” video, he walks towards the LED screen where you can see us teasing the setup for our new “Cyan Night Dreams” video. So we spent two whole days at the Tillypark Studios (https://www.tillyparkstudios.com), shooting “I Am” on Saturday and “Cyan Night Dreams” on Sunday.
The shooting
Because this video is mainly a full band performance video, it didn’t take too long to finish. After syncing the animated background with the audio, we performed several times as a band inside the big water tank (and yes - that was cold! Standing for hours with wet shoes in that tank, haha). Afterwards we were filmed individually for close-up shots. We also constantly added water to the floor so the screen lights would reflect properly.
The second location was on the other side of the big room, where the “I Am” set had been standing the day before. While we had coffee, snacks and beer, the team set up the light tubes and then we filmed individual performance shots of each band member. We also shot some scenes with Kai lying in the water, but they didn’t fit the final video - and unfortunately the little rubber duck didn’t make it either.

More InformationLike with “I Am”, we also took some band photos for the booklet and promotion to match the look of the album artwork.
The result
We all know that you’ve probably seen this video multiple times already, but we are still very proud of what we created together with Tillypark Studios and with the help of the Initiative Musik Foundation. Without that support, a video like this wouldn’t have been possible.
