Cyan Night Dreams Video Shooting

Hi everyone, it’s Lou here.

Today I want to give you a little insight in our video shooting for our current single ‘Cyan Night Dreams’.

The idea:

As this song is the title track of our upcoming record, we really wanted to have a complete CI-concept for the album artwork, our official promo shots and the music video. So Benni spent like 100 years creating that cool cover and later turned it into this animated background, which can be seen in the sequences where the whole band is perfoming.

You can check out the full hypnotizing background animation with sound here. Unfortunately, some of the cool sequences didn’t make it into the final video:

The location:

We really wanted this video to be in a big room, with the artwork colors and light tubes and all that stuff. So the cool thing was, that the film studio, where we shot the ‘I Am’ Video, built us this room for ‘I Am’ in their space, where this big screenwall is standing with a floodable water tank on the ground. After we heard this, I had the idea of combining those two videos: after Kai’s breakout of this small room in the ‘I Am’ video, he walked towards the LED screen where you can see us teasing the setup for our new ‘Cyan Night Dreams’ video. So we spent two whole days at the Tillypark Studios (and again check them out! https://www.tillyparkstudios.com ), shooting ‘I Am’ on Saturday and ‘Cyan Night Dreams’ on Sunday.

The shooting:

Because this video is just a whole band performance video, it took us not that long to be finished. After we managed the animated video to sync with the audio we performed several times as a band in that big water tank (fuck that was cold! standing for hours with wet shoes in that tank haha) and then we were filmed as a single performer for some close-ups. We also put constantly water on the floor, that the lights of the screen would reflect there as well.

The second location was on the other site of that big room, where the ‘I Am’ room was standing the day before. The team set up the light tubes while we had some coffee, snacks and beer and then we filmed some single performance shots of each member in front of the tubes. We also had some scenes where Kai was lying in the water, but they didn’t really fit the final video…and unfortunately this little rubberduck didn’t made it as well. 😀

Like with ‘I Am’ we also took some band photos for the booklet and the promotion (to match the look of the album artwork). Check out some photos from the shooting and the photo session:

The result:

We all know, that you have seen this video multiple times, but again, we are very proud of what we created together Tillypark Studios and with the help of the ‘Initiative Musik Foundation’, otherwise a video like this wouldn’t have been possible.
